North Carolina - October Sky!
The tugboat North Carolina against a brilliant October sky at Rice's Point (Duluth). As with my photo of the old Snoopy truck, sometimes its all about the sky! This photo came very close to winning the Duluth Seaway Port Authority Annual Calendar photo contest, but the judges felt that they needed color....I disagree :>)
Storm!
In early January I needed to take my wife downtown for an appointment. Because I knew the Big Lake would be looking pretty surly from the storm, I grabbed my camera and went down to the canal to take some pics. I happened to get this one with the seagull's wings perfectly lined up with the crashing wave.
The Bench and The Bridge
On a very cold January evening I decided to head down to Canal Park and take some photos. The black bench, the fresh snow, the bitter cold and the aerial lift bridge all came together to create this black and white photo.

The Death of the Seaway
In the early morning hours of January 10th, 2022, fire crews were dispatched to the old Seaway Hotel in the Lincoln Park Craft District in Duluth. In just a short time fire engulfed the old Esmond building, the roof collapsed and firefighters were pulled back. The building had been slated to come down to pave the way for apartments and 8500 square feet of commercial space.

I just had a 150mm lens on my camera so I needed to get back quite aways from the bridge...found a spot on the corner of Canal Park Drive and Railroad Street.

Two ships made their way into the Port of Duluth on a cold, windy and snowy December day. The second ship is faintly seen in the background and what appear to be "ice chunks" on the pier are seagulls huddled together because of the wind and cold.

My wife and I stopped by a gift shop called "Simply" just north of Spooner, Wisconsin a couple of years ago. I spotted this old truck out in the field and asked if I could take a photo of it. The Snoopy Truck made Picture of the Day in Capture Wisconsin back in 2016.

Lean On Me!
A very, very leaning shed in the back of the old King School by Port Wing, Wisconsin. Someone mentioned on FB that this was the old outhouse for the school; this "shed" was pretty short for an outhouse, but that could very well have been as the bottom of it may have just simply rotted away over the years.

St. Louis River, Jay Cooke State Park located about 1 mile up stream from the hiway 23 bridge. Taken with a "point-and-shoot" camera (you can't change the lens on it), so you don't need a big and expensive camera to take great photos!
